Just a few of the comments that we have received recently from departing guests.
JK from Surrey

A lovely stay. Thanks to you and the entire team for such kind hospitality - Oscar included.
We were very appreciative of the excellent food - such precise cooking, first rate ingredients, brilliant presentation and your wonderful Polish staff. We enjoyed the conversations so much. Well appointed rooms and flawless housekeeping added to the sense of complete professionalism.

Please can you include us on your mailing list. We do hope we can find time to come on a future occasion, perhaps in the late autumn.
J and C Evans

We want to thank you for the lovely stay in Ynyshir last week. All your staff are so charming and made our all -too-short stay so memorable.
I and M Henson

Jeremy Wayne (Tatler magazine)

Thank you so much for having us to stay at Ynyshir. What a wonderful experience it was - too short of course but a delicious escape from the city and a tantalizing glimpse of your special world in mid-Wales. We had such an enjoyable stay, You were all thoroughly welcoming and so very generous. We will remember our brief time at Ynyshir for a very long time to come.
P Crawford

Just a short note to thank you for the delightful short break at Ynyshir Hall on Saturday and Sunday. Pat and I did not think such wonderful places existed. Please thank the staff for their attentive nature. You have a wonderful property with beautiful decor. I am sure it will not be long before we visit again.
D Howson

What a fantastic week end we have just had at Ynyshir Hall. We were so impressed by the glorious food, luxurious accommodation and most of all by the service which was quiet, unobtrusive and generally excellent.
Sarah Penn

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thanks to you and your wonderful staff for helping to make our recent stay with you so pleasurable - and also, thank you for being so understanding about our weather related 'no show' on Friday night! I thought you might be relieved to know that we managed to make it back to London in around 4h 30mins on Sunday, so much better than on the way up!

We had a wonderful stay, even despite the rather inclement weather - and in fact, I'm pleased to say, Rob proposed to me on Saturday night after dinner
- so I think your chef must be doing something right!

Anyway - thank you once again - we very much hope to be back with you again before too long.
Paul and Yvonne from Gloucester

Thanks again, and we look forward to a return visit – hopefully not too long.

Hello Joan,

Having now returned to Vancouver, Canada, I'd like to thank you for your kindness and hospitality during our stay in June.

Your assistance in helping me locate the place in Corris, where I was evacuated during the war, was very much appreciated. In fact I still can't believe my search fell into place so easily! Wales is even more beautiful than I remembered as a child.

The friendly staff and immaculate housekeeping contributed to a memorable stay, and dining was quite an experience! (Thank you Shane).

Again, thank you for looking after us so well. My stay at Ynyshir Hall was the highlight of my U.K. holiday.

Best Regards,

Dear Mrs Reen,

A belated note to thank you so very much for making my birthday so special and memorable.
My souvenir Menu of Shane’s Dinner has been looked at by my friends and drooled over.

We enjoyed the weekend break, exploring the valleys and the beautiful countryside, and can laugh how absurd being blown of our feet by the wind on the ridge where the wind turbines are situated.

Please pass on thanks to your staff for looking after us, and a huge thank you to Shane,

Sincerely,

Dear Mrs Reen

Thank you for a most wonderful stay.  Ynyshir Hall has the most lovely relaxing atmosphere with a level of service that has been honed to perfection – always there when required but not intrusive, friendly but not over familiar and staff able to judge the guests individual needs and requirements.
The food was wonderful and the setting for the dining room nicely relaxing while remaining formal, as befitted the hotel and style of food.
Our guided walks were quite excellent. Please thank Sue for showing us the hills. She judged our requirements perfectly – we could have managed a harder and faster walk, but it would have taken away from the relaxation element of our stay. As it was she provided excellent company, good conversation and guided us on a lovely walk.
Phil also proved an admirable guide for our trip to Borth Beach and viewing of the sunken forest. He was another fascinating character with interesting stories to tell and prepared to talk or listen as guests desired. This was a visit I would not have missed and we are so glad that we had the opportunity to experience it.

We wish to be able to come back again in the future and will do our best to organise to stay for longer. Thank you again – you are in our top ten for places to stay.

Best wishes

Dear Sir,

I stayed at your hotel in the past couple of weeks, I would just like to say that the food was exquisite, beautifully structured, and a delight to sample. As a fellow chef I was most impressed with your craftsmanship, and would be grateful if you could send me the recipe for your pea soup.

The standard of service was excellent, I will recommend your establishment whole heartedly.

Thank you for your time on this matter.

Dear Joan and the team

Sorry to have made such a hurried departure this morning and not to have said a proper goodbye. The weather forecast was dire and we drove through frank blizzards in Shropshire and the West Midlands on our way back to Sheffield. We followed Cate's advice and took the M6 toll road which was excellent.

We wanted to say how very much we enjoyed our stay. We had high expectations and they were frankly exceeded. Rarely have we had such a warm welcome and such committed service from such a great team of people than we had from you all over the festive season. The whole occasion was festive yet informal and the food was superb. Our meal on Boxing day evening (when we had recovered from our lavish afternoon tea of course) was the highlight for us. We shall certainly return and thanks again for working so hard to make our stay one of the most special events we have ever been a part of.

Hi Joan Reen,
We enjoyed our stay with you very much indeedand our thanks to all there. Your chef is very talented, tho' I suspect you know that! It was all delicious and beautifully presented and we were well looked after by all staff. I'm sorry that I have left 2 items of clothing in the wardrobe , a pair of trousrers and a woolen top, howeverthe staff member I spoke to on the weekend assured me that they would be sent to me as soon as possible. I'm looking forward to staying at Ynyshir again and if possible to visit your gallery to see more of the painting I admired so much.

Dear Joan, Gianluca et al,

Thank you so much to you ALL for making our wedding so very special. It was everything we imagined and hoped it would be.

Extra special thanks for Gianluca for acting as photographer, he was able to get some great snaps and we are really very very pleased.

So have attached a couple of pics to show you what a talent he is – maybe a new service to offer !

We look forward to seeing you all again soon, as we hope to return for more delicious food. What a chef.

Hi,

My husband and I dropped by on Friday for a dinner at your place. We couldn't possibly tell you how much we appreciated your culinary creation. It's poetry on plate!

The service was impeccable. We couldn't find the hotel's entrance and our satnav somehow took us straight to the kitchen's door! A hospitable, and very handsome, chef emerged from the kitchen and guided us to the hotel. We later learned that he's Shane Hughes, the head chef himself!

Your steak and sweetbread must be the best dish I have had in a long time. Your rice pudding is, in the absence of a better word, perfect. My husband said he will drive four hours from London just for that! Please keep up the good work.

Needless to say, we will be there again soon.

Kind regards,

Anchalee Worrachate-Matlock

Dear Joan
Just a short note of appreciation to say that Val & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to seeing you again in the not to distant future.
We have stayed in several Relais & Chateau Hotels both in the UK and abroad and found the location, food and service at Ynyshir Hall to exceed all our expectations. Superb.
Many thanks for the impromptu entertainment on Saturday evening presented by our neighbours across the pond. In the words of Max Bygraves I will tell you a story.
Some years ago there was a rustic French Restaurant in Manchester called the Normandy were the Chef was exceptional but he was a wild and amusing character. Any patrons not in the know, so to speak, who made adverse comments were suddenly met by the kitchen door being flung open with the Chef sticking his meat cleaver in the offending diners table top. I am not advocating that Shane Hughes should adopt such action but please send me a copy of the Machynlleth Weekly should this occur.
Again many thanks also to Gianluca hope he gets the Fiat [ woops Ferrari], Miss Austria [ who should take up yodelling to stun Yanks] and Mr Burgundy [ the restaurant was Chez Camille, Arnay-le-Duc near his home].
The only downside to the stay, with which Val does not agree is that I would prefer to sleep in Renee Zellweger's bed rather that Richard Gere's. Any chance you can transfer this from the Samling.
Sincere thanks again and as a Lancashire Lass please keep up the Missionary work.
Kind regards

Val & David

The food and the hospitality were exceptional and it proved to be a real treat for us. We would not hesitate to recommend a stay at the hall or even an evening meal if somebody was in the area.
I do hope you are both keeeping well. We hope it is not too long before we are able to to visit again.

Many thanks.

Good Afternoon,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff involved last night in providing such a wonderful meal, service and the food was second to none.

From arrival to the moment we left, very late, we where treated faultlessly and I feel this is what sets Ynyshir Hall apart from the competition, not just locally but nationally.

The food... well, what can I say, absolutely stunning, we chose the Taster Menu and did not regret it, Shane Hughes is a chef with a real talent and I am certain that his first Michelin Star is only the begining for this guy who shows a real passion for what he does, that was evident when he came to our table and chatted for over 20 minutes and even took time to show us around the kitchen, even though it was late and after such a long day, we appreciated it very much.

This was our second visit for an evening meal and as we live just down the road in Borth, we are sure it won''''t be our last.

Once again, thank you all very much for excellent service, food and a memorable night.

Dear Joan,

Many thanks for a wonderful stay at Ynyshir.

A one night stay made us feel as if we had rested for a week!

The welcome was fantastic - what stars you have in Jean Luca and the charming Barbara and talking of stars (Michelin in this case), what a superb dinner. I can honestly say that the experience was wonderful. These people really make Ynyshir what it is - heaven on earth!

All this and the location as well, you have it all!

We will return as soon as we can

Please pass on our thanks to the staff for a really enjoyable time and look forward to seeing you again soon

Best wishes

Dear Ynyshir,
Thank you for our stay, we really enjoy our time. The room was spectacular and the food was equally as good. So I'd definitely recommend a stay, & I hope to have a stay again soon.

For all but especially Gian Luca (?spelling) and Kate

Just a brief note to thank you all for an excellent stay at Ynyshir Hall earlier this week. As you know, we were disappointed to learn on arrival that we were the only guests for the two days. Gian Luca promised that the staff would compensate and ensure we did not feel alone. G-L and Kate certainly did that. We thanked Kate on leaving but did not see G-L and we would be grateful if you would pass on our thanks to him. We also hope his incident with the car is resolving favourably.
Kind regards,

At last I'm putting oen to paper to say a huge thankyou to you for all your efforts organising our stay, that amazing meal and the reminiscences.
To say I enjoyed it was an understatement!
Must admit though - couldn't manage ''fine dining'' too often! I'm sure the others have spoken of little else - just our flying visit and our adventure.
You are a jewel of the country. We shall be ''keeping an eye'' on your achievements! (Nothing's changed then!)

Best wishes and thanks to everyone - as in all team events - everyone counts.

Thank you, thank you.
