Fame for Oscar Posted on 03/06/2008
All who visit Ynyshir , or who read the diaries will be familiar with our wonderful resident Bernese Mountain dog, Oscar. We have had him from a puppy, and his sheer size, beauty and wonderful temperament have endeared him to guests, family and friends. After a chance meeting with a fellow Bernese owner last week, we had a telphone message from the Welsh Bernese Association. We knew that at 12 years old, he was well over the average age for his breed. These large creatures don't often reach double figures, and apparently he may well be the oldest Welsh Bernese! They were very keen to have a photograph and a 'biography ' for their magazine, -especially tips on diet and other secrets of his long and healthy life, as he is still very active . But , I suppose having lived a life of luxury and pampering at Ynyshir one can hardly be surprised by his longevity!
