Ynyshir Hall voted Best Hotel by Visit Wales

 Going for Gold
On Friday 5th October, Ynyshir Hall was voted Best Hotel by Visit Wales. General Manager, Joan Reen attended the award ceremony which was televised on Welsh TV and filmed for future showing.
The Welsh Assembly Government is anxious to show how much importance they put on the Tourist Industry in Wales. Since the Tourist Board was absorbed into the Welsh Assembly and became ‘Visit Wales’, a new grading scheme has been launched. Those hotels and guest houses who achieved the highest grades from inspectors were re visited by a ‘Mystery customer’ who then awarded the ‘Gold Award’ to just two percent of all those graded for ‘outstanding quality, exceptional comfort and hospitality.’
From these 12 Hotels and 25 Guest houses, 4 were shortlisted and entered for the National Tourism Awards , or ‘Tourism Oscars’, which acknowledge the best in all aspects of the Tourism Industry.
The final selection was down to David Atkinson , author of the Lonely Planet, Wales edition.
So after a year long, nail biting, inspection process, the final decisions were announced on October 4th in a glittering award ceremony , hosted by Huw Edwards, at Bodelwyddan Castle in North Wales.
All at Ynyshir Hall were delighted to be chosen as the overall winner in the Hotel category.
Proving that small is beautiful, this charming nine bedroom Hotel continues to please both guests and inspectors .
There is no secret to the string of awards the Hotel has achieved. Simply everything has to come from the heart. Every member of the team has to really want to please our guests. Even after the longest day, nothing has to be too much trouble.
No-one is perfect, but guest can always tell when they are genuinely cared for- and that makes all the difference.

As for the future, the partnership with von Essen Hotels is opening exciting possibilities. Plans are drawn for a remodeling of the studio wing with stunning new rooms and a mini spa. Watch this space!
