Gianluca's tour of the finest bubbles in France and Italy

Sparkling ideas from Gianluca’s wine tasting tour

Gianluca, our Assistant Manager has just returned from his ‘European Grand Tour’!
He was the guest of Paul Brown, Business development manager from Bibendum and John Cleary, National Sales Manager from Lauren Perrier for a memorable trip to Paris and Reims, Champagne. He also went home to Italy to re-visit some old friends at Ca’ del Bosco.
The trip was not merely for pleasure, (or so he said!) but really hard research for his new wine list and to finalise details for our Italian Gourmet event in October.

The journey to Paris started, of course, in the champagne bar at St Pancras Station.
Reaching Paris in time for a splendid seafood lunch with Lobster and Oysters, accompanied by some superb Laurent Perrier Champagne!wards to the Hotel in Reims, and Dinner at a Michelin Star restaurant , with more Laurent Perrier champagne.
The next day was the main event— a visit to the Laurent Perrier Cellars, jut 35 km from Reims, where they were expertly guided through all the best vintage and non vintage gems from Laurent Perrier’s cellars.
Yet another wonderful Michelin Star Lunch, and more Laurent Perrier Champagne for the grand finale.

The trip to Ca’ del Bosco, one of Italy’s most prestigious wine makers in Lombardy, was another fantastic experience. Most famous for their spumante’s, they also produce a wonderful variety of chardonnays and some pinot noir, and Gianluca tried most!!
Starting with a tour of the vineyards, and proceeding down to the cellars where Mr Maurizio Zanella works his magic. Gianluca will always keep treasured memories of tasting all the spumantes in the beautiful surroundings of their tasting rooms which have glorious views of the vineyards.

He came back bursting with ideas and enthusiasm, and immediately added all varieties of Laurent Perrier Champagne and the wonderful Spumantes of Ca’ del Bosco to our list.
Now we have and amazing variety of great sparkling wines and Champagnes by the glass, and now Gianluca can’t wait to share his wonderful experience with all our guests, who have the chance to try these stunning sparkling wines side by side.

For the future, Gianluca has plans to hold a second Laurent Perrier Gourmet evening,—- date to be advised!
And Ca’del Bosco is helping with the Italian Gourmet evening on October 24th/25th this year, which promises to be a very special event.

For the Summer, we are suggesting Sparkling Afternoon Teas in the gardens, with a glass of bubbles of your choice from Laurent Perrier champagnes or Ca del Bosco’s best spumantes , and fresh strawberries from the garden to accompany Shane’s scrumptious scones and sandwiches.

And something extra special— our ‘Stars in their Eyes’ evenings.
We have had many celebrities at Ynyshir, but this is star spotting with a difference!
Our Magic Walking Guide, Phil Brachi, will come over after dinner and help explore the night sky.
He has an amazing telescope that tracks the planets, and he will guide us through the staggering beauty of the stars . We have all seen photographs and television pictures, but it is truly awesome to see this for real!

There are few places in Britain that have the clarity and darkness require to see the night sky in all its glory. And Ynyshir is just perfect for this, with the stars shining like a diamond bracelet on black velvet…

As this requires a clear sky, we have to simply take the chance as it arises.
So, for the few who get this very special chance , we offer a glass of bubbles of their choice whilst they marvel at the stars in the tranquillity of our glorious gardens as a perfect after dinner treat.
