Vermeer Suite

This is an imposing room with a period luxury walnut bed of 1860, separate sitting room and luxury bathroom with deep blue tiles.

A handsome room, side facing, with views of the kitchen gardens and ivy clad 15th century barns, this room has a separate sitting room with double doors opening to the bedroom.

The centrepiece of the room is a wonderful walnut bed, dating from 1810, with intricate carved head and footboards which have barley-twist columns framing flowing flowers and leaves. The alcoves on each side house bold oil paintings by Rob Reen from which the blues and oranges of the colour scheme were taken.

Three steps lead down to a large bathroom, decorated in Delft blue tiles, which has an extra deep bath for soaking in!

‘Vermeer’ is most popular as Richard Gere stayed in this room whilst filming ‘First Knight’.

Degas Room
This is a charming room with ornate 1820 brass and mother of pearl bedstead and cosy sitting room.

This is a pretty and romantic room in the heart of the house. The windows are rear facing, looking into the plants and rock garden behind the Hotel, with a feature statue as a centre piece.

It’s decorated in pale yellows and blues, and with a little sitting room with antique desk and two easy chairs, and an archway through to the bedroom. The bed is a charming brass bed, inlaid with mother of pearl, dating back to 1860.

The paintings in here are mainly of Spain, and of course are original oils by Rob Reen. A blue and white china plate collection add to the décor, as does a very unusual Art Deco mirror, framed with flowers. A cosy room with a feminine feel.

Goya Room
This is a lovely room with rich colour schemes, fine furnishings and a king-size bed which can be double or twin. It also boasts a lovely large bathroom.

A striking room with six foot Victorian brass bedstead, backed by bold blue and gold striped fabric. This has a large picture window, similar to the Bar’s, which looks into the trees and to the gardens beyond. There is a handsome antique desk with a gilt framed mirror above, with two co-ordinating ceramic heads dating from the 1920’s on either side.

The blue and gold is warmed by peach coloured walls, and a lovely floral blue and cream fabric for the curtains. The bathroom has a collection of original prints, on a theme of boats.

Bird watchers particularly like the room, as they get a prime view of so many birds in the trees around the window!
